Happy New Year and Welcome Back

Blog posted: 5 January 2012

We hope you all had a suitably festive period with all the trimmings and frivolity you hoped for. December was a record breaking month in terms of sales for Norwich Playhouse so thank you all for helping us reach that goal. This seasons programme is packed full of shows to help get rid of your winter blues so why not check out a tribute to the best musical satire of the the 1950s and 1960s with Bob Newhart & Tom Lehrer on Saturday the 14th of January. Or start the new year off on a benevolent note by helping raise funds for charity with the Great Variety Show on the Friday the 20th of January . For more charity base fun, why not come see the exceptional classical pianist, Rita Kinka, on  Saturday the 21st of January presented by The Norfolk and Norwich Novi Sad Association.

Thanks to our record breaking December, we’ve had to add an extra show for Germany’s self-appointed Comedy Ambassador, Henning Wehn on Thursday 16 February and another date for the show with mime, noise, stand-up with no talking and drama with no acting, The Boy with Tape on His Face, on Tuesday 28 February.

We look forward to welcoming you this year, have a great start to 2012.

10 Days of Play

Blog posted: 15 December 2011

Christmas is descending and its time for us all here at Norwich Playhouse to take a well earned festive break. Our office will be closed from the 21st of December and our first show of 2012 is the wonderful Pasadena Roof Orchestra on Friday 6th of January. But what will you do with yourselves whilst we are home warming ourselves by the fire and eating chocolates from the christmas tree? Fear not! Our colourful and friendly sister bar, The Playhouse Bar, is hosting 10 Days of Play.

Starting on Tuesday 20th of December and running until 6pm on the Saturday 31st of Dec (not including christmas day or boxing day), the bar is offering you the chance to try your hand at screen printing, origami, drawing and crafts, to join them for an evening of NOISE featuring The Neutrinos, Death of Death of Discotheque and more, to sit by firepits and hear stories, to play as much Ping Pong as your hands can handle, to watch a host of excellent films and much, much more culminating in a rawkus farewell to 2011 with the Guitar Noise Orchestra. To make it even more enticing, all the events are free!

Check out the Playhouse Bar Facebook page for regular updates on whats going on or grab a brochure from the bar.

Merry Christmas, Happy New Year and see you all in 2012!
